Charlotte-South Inaugural Wine Event Exceeds Goal

Charlotte-South Rotary's wine tasting fundraiser exceeded its first year goal in benefitting Rotary International's "End Polio Now" campaign.

Titled  "World Tasting Tour 2010," this inaugural event featured wines from New Zealand, dinner and a silent auction. More than 100 attendees the event at a private estate in SouthPark, and helped organizers raise $14,000 — topping the first year goal of $10,000.

DSC_0874Winemaker Blair Walter of Felton Road Wines in the Central Otago region of New Zealand presented seven wines, including Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Saugvinon Blancs. Accompanying the wines were foods from Zebra, Best Impresssions, Café Monte, Charlotte Country Club, McCormick & Schmick’s, and Providence Country Club.

The event was chaired by club member Karen Pike. The club is already planning The World Tasting Tour 2011 for next spring, and committee chair Andy Bach is working to determine which outstanding wine region in the world will be its focus.
