Membership Information

  • Membership in the Paul Harris Society is based on a “new money” aggregate gift of $1,000 a year to the Annual Programs Fund of the Rotary Foundation. Although there is no ongoing obligation, you are encouraged to renew your Membership each year until you become a Major Donor.  And, naturally, we encourage you to continue as a PHS member after you reach the recognition of Major Donor Level 1.  Club Foundation Recognition Points may not be used to fund the Paul Harris Society pledge.  The full $1,000 must be paid during the Rotary year (before June 30th) though it need not be paid in one check.  You may pay in installments.  Please advise on your pledge form if you plan to pay in installments.
  • You don’t have to be a Paul Harris Fellow first in order to become a Paul Harris Society member.  If you are not already a Paul Harris Fellow you will become one as soon as you fully fund your initial Society pledge. Make your USD check/money order payable to “The Rotary Foundation” and send it to your District Paul Harris Society Chair.  Alternatively, you may pay online with a credit card at www.rotary.org.  When your pledge is fully funded your PHF will be ordered from The Rotary Foundation and your Paul Harris Society recognition will be prepared by the District.
  • With each $1,000 gift you may name a new Paul Harris Fellow. You will receive multiple PHF recognition (PHF pin with appropriate number of stones) after your first PHF.
  • This is unrestricted giving.  All Paul Harris Society gifts are designated for the Annual Programs Fund.  100% of APF dollars go to fund Foundation programs.  In three years The Rotary Foundation will return 50% of the District’s Annual Giving to the District as District Designated Funds (DDF) to be used for humanitarian and educational programs by the District and Clubs.
  • A personal gift already made to the Annual Programs Fund in the current year counts toward your Paul Harris Society pledge  Example:  if you’ve already made a $200 gift to the APF this Rotary year you can become a Paul Harris Society member with the gift of an additional $800.  Please advise the District PHS Chair on your pledge form if you’ve gifted the APF since July 1. All previous personal gifts to the Foundation are counted toward Major Donor recognition; however, your Paul Harris Society membership begins upon your contribution in the current Rotary year.
  • If your club has sent, or will send, your Paul Harris Society gift to Rotary International please make certain YOU are recorded as the DONOR of the $1,000.  Advise District PHS Chair on your pledge form.  Recognitions to the PHS are ordered when the gift is recorded.
  • The Paul Harris Society of District 7680 is OUR DISTRICT’S OWN recognition society. Although recognized by Rotary International, the Paul Harris Society recognition is produced and awarded by the District, NOT Rotary International.
